Newfoundland Beauty

This painting has a story. I took the photograph, from which this is painted, perhaps 20 years or more ago in, I thought, New Jersey. After completing the painting, I was idly looking Newfoundland up in the gazeteer at the back of the Rand McNally map to confirm where it is. It was not listed, so I Googled Newfoundland Train Station (which is in NJ as it turns out) and came up with a current picture. The building is now grey with red trim! I also found that a feature film called The Station Agent was filmed there. Accordingly, I ordered the film up from Netflix and was able to see a lot of different shots of the building and it's surroundings. Its a critically acclaimed independent film made in 2003 that you may enjoy and is described on one website as "a little gem."
